Hi Ladies,
I already posted something similar but I am back with more questions. I am looking for a midwife/midwife group that delivers in a hospital. I do not feel comfortable with a home birth but want to do a natural childbirth but have the benefits of a hospital in case anything should go wrong. I have had 3 recommendations and was wondering if you can share with me what you know about them.

Alternative Birth Choices in Catonsville-Evelyn
Women's health Associates -Mary Knauer and Monique Klapka, delivers at St. Joe's.
thanks ladies. i feel lost in this process and dont know how to choose one.
Re: need advice/recs
I only have experiences with Evelyn, well to a point (I miscarried at 16 weeks). I really liked her, but frankly was none too fond of Dr. Atlas the Ob that she works with. Also, I know that she delivers at Mercy.
Currently, I go to the Bay Area Midwifery Center and you can deliver at the birth center (if your insurance covers it - mine does not) or at Anne Arundel Medical Center. So far, I really like them. I live closer to Howard County Hospital and the hospitals in downtown Baltimore, but it is worth the drive for me. However, I realize it may not work for you. Good luck!
There is also Special beginnings, which is in Arnold. It's like a cross between hospital/home birth and they take emergencies to AAMC if needed. Also Maryland General has a midwife program that is supposed to be really good.
I live between DC and Baltimore so I am going to the midwives at Shady Grove. I was deciding between them and Mercy, both are about 45 minute drive. But I am vbac, so my choices are limited even further.
You can call and interview any of them, some are open to e-mail communication.
As a childbirth educator / doula I have worked with all three of these women, and I have only good things to say about all of them. There are some personal differences in approach that may suit some 'moms' more than others. If you would like to talk more specifically about any of them before making a choice please feel free to email me personally or call my cell phone (410.456.0980).
It sounds like you are already doing more research than many women, so I am sure you are on the right track :-)
