We received so many nice gifts yesterday at my shower. Because we don't know the sex, people bought a lot of green and yellow outfits. I know there is no way we will use them all, so I'm thinking of returning a few of them (not all, just a few out of about 25.) Will they take them back (some with receipts and some without)?
Also, DH's grandmother gave us a swing that I think is from BRU, but it isn't the one we registered for. My parents gave us the one off the registry, so now we have two. I don't have a receipt from his grandmother. Do you think they'll take it back for at least store credit? And one more q...DH's mom gave us a bouncy seat last month (not from registry) but we received the one off of our registry yesterday. Will they take it back if I opened the box but didn't take it out or put it together? Again, no receipt. We are fine with store credit as we still have a few things we want to purchase. Thanks!
Re: Returning gifts to BRU...questions...
"When it comes to sleeping, whatever your baby does is normal. If one thing has damaged parents enjoyment of their babies, it's rigid expectations about how and when the baby should sleep." ~ James McKenna, Ph.D., Mother Baby Behavioral Sleep Center, University of Notre Dame
BRU people are jackasses in general. If you don't have a receipt (and especially if it's not on your registry shown as "purchased") there is no way they'll take them back, at least my store won't. Can you ask his grandmother/mother for the receipts? Or would they get offended that you don't want to keep them?
My store automatically prints regular receipt and a gift receipt, I'm not sure if all stores do that or not. I would just try to get the receipts and make your life easier.
This is what I did last week. I found the items that I had received but didn't need on the BRU website. I added them to my registry and marked as purchases. I went into the store and said I had returns that were off of my registry. They looked it up and gave me store credit.
The only issue you might have is with the clothes because they are store specific. If they got them at the store you go to I would do what pp suggested, get the gun and register for them, then later go home and mark them as purchased.
Just beware- when you return items on your registry it then shows that they are items you want and have not purchased. You have to go back online and delete them (just incase people are still buying for you!)

I have never had a problem returning anything w/or w/out a receipt to BRU. It also didn't matter if the items were on my registry or not. I just gave them my driver's license and they gave me a store credit. Good luck.
