I had my baby on Wednesday and milk started coming in early Saturday morning. Today (Sunday) it looks to be real milk and LO is having yellow BM poops, but I am still SO sore and engorged/feverish/tingly. I'm feeding every 2 hours (pedi recommended for jaundice)--how long did it take you for yoor supply to regulate and to start feeling more normal?
Re: How long to be "in business?"
It takes a while to completely regulate but I think I was only really engorged the first night after my milk came in. If it's really painful or LO is having trouble latching, pump or express just enough so that you're not in pain or LO can eat.
Is the tingly feeling at the start of feeding? That's probably just your letdown. The sensation was really intense for me for the first month. It bordered on painful but it only lasted for a few seconds. Now I only feel a slight tingle and it doesn't bother me at all.

Since I'm also doing every 2 hours to feed, I've started doing one feed on each side at a time. That gives the other side a little extra time to heal.
I noticed just this morning that the side that I nurse on is finally starting to feel soft, and more comfortable, after a feeding.
Hang in there.
Hang in there. It does get better! By 2-3 weeks, I was feeling pretty good. Let down still kinda hurts - I like a rush of electricity during let down.
If you have an actual fever though, you should see the doctor for possible infection.
