Help! Crib escapist!

Hello ladies -

My 26 m.o.DS has figured out how to get out of his crib last night. I am terrified. He can open all kids of locks and he is a great escape artist. He is too immature for a toddler bed and will freak out if his door is locked.

Help! What do I do?

    Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress.  Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage.  Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm.  27 days in the NICU.  Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely.  My tough little cookie.

    I just googled it - it looks like it may work! Unfortunately none of the stores actually carry it, so I will order online.

    If you do end up doing the toddler bed, try putting a baby gate across the door rather than closing/latching the door.  This way they can still see/hear things, but (hopefully) won't get past the gate.

    this is what we had to do.  my son climbed out when he was not quite 18 mos old yet.  i was not pleased!  he actually took to the toddler bed quite easily, much to my surprise.  

    he's one of "those" kids where we've had to look at and modify our doors & locks to make sure we don't end up on the 5o'clock news with a toddler wandering the streets.

    Some people have luck with the sleep sack that has foot holes so he won't get tangled up when he stands, but can't use his legs enough to swing them over.

    Auntie has great advice, as usual. You could also put his mattress just straight on the floor. For some kids, it takes away the challenge of trying to escape and so they oddly stay put.
