Preemies

strolling with preemies?

so my girls are 5lbs and 4-9 and I would really like to get them out to stroll just around my block tomorrow. HIgh is in the 70's here. I also have the head support things for preemie/infant babies.

Do you think its ok to stroll them? They are a month old.

  • I would definitely get out if you can and enjoy the nice weather. If you feel like they are to cold, you could always have an extra blanket on hand.

  • Absolutely! Our nurses have told us to dress the baby in one more layer than we are comfortable in. So if you are wearing jeans and a tshirt, dress the baby in pants, shirt and a long sleeved shirt/sweater. Enjoy the weather!

  • We took our preemies out last night for their 1st stroll.  they LOVED it....and when we got home... DD opened her eyes as if to say... "what? it's over??...Indifferent  It was too cute the expression on her face.

It was chilly here... I snapped the carseats in the stroller, and I have those plush covers that go on them.  (we waited so long because one of my girls was on oxygen, a cardiac/apnea monitor and pulse ox for almost 3 mos.)  I could have taken a portable oxygen tank, but on the days she was feeling good, it was upper 80s/90 ;so pretty hot outside.

  • For sure!  Dress them appropriately and consider covering their car seats with a blanket - Andrew got overstimulated very easy at that age.
