So I hit 20 lbs today. I shouldn't be surprised because I gained almost 40 with DD, I guess part of me was hoping for a lower number this time around. I eat very healthy (w the occasional indulgence), I do the elliptical almost every day so I know its not for lack of control, this is just what my body does, I need to accept it and I know its all for the good of baby. But it just seems like such a big number with 16 weeks still to go (and those weeks include Thanksgiving and Christmas!). So who else is with me?? Any others of my side of 20? Oh I will say that I was able to lose it all plus 10 lbs after DD so I know its doable, I was just hoping with a lower number I could get back faster!
Re: 20 + weight gain- please tell me i am not alone
My sister gained 50lbs with all 3 of hers no matter what she did. She is now tiny and you would never know she had 3 kids.
I didn't watch what I ate with DS and gained 40lbs by 36 weeks when I had him (so well on my way up to 50 I'm sure) and with DD I was more careful and still gained 34 lbs. I'm up over 20 now around 22 I think. I'm just not the 25 lber pregnant lady I guess. Expecting 35lbs again this time.
I am almost at 25 weeks and gained 20 lbs. This is my first pregnancy. My BMI pre-pregnancy is about 23. Don't worry you are not the only one. Seems like most of the people who post on this board gained 10 pounds or so around this time, but reality is, all the people I know (5 or so within the month or so of my due date) has gained just about as much as I did or a little more.
Don't worry, I feel the same everytime I step on that scale as well.
Nope, you're not alone. I'm up 20 lbs right now.
My weight gain started slow, but I think it's because of the extreme nausea I had up until 18 weeks. I was surprised to see that I've gained about 10lbs in the past month. I've been eating healthy, just larger amounts and more frequently. I've never seen such high numbers on a scale before, but as long as my little man's healthy, I'm sure I can lose it afterwards.
so far I've gained about 10 lbs but started out overweight. My ob said that average is about 40 lbs for most women but for me I have to keep it under 20-25 lbs. If you are worried I would ask your OB, if they are not concerned then I wouldn't be either.
Especially if you are eating healthy and working out. Are you eating enough? Maybe your body is holding onto more because you are pregnant and working out.

you are SO not alone.
You know those posts where the girls are saying that they have gained 7-12 lbs? yeah, I don't respond because it pisses me off.
I am not a pretty or "cute" pregnant lady this time around...you on the other hand are DARLING!
It doesn't piss me off when they just say they've gained 7-12 pounds, but it totally pisses me off when they're like OMFG, I have gained SO much weight, I hope my doctor doesn't yell at me.
I've gained 20-25. I'm a little nervous since I still have four months to go and dr. recommended 30-35, but its going to be whatever its going to be. I could stand to eat healthier but I'm not doing too bad.
I figure as long as my diet is ok and I get some exercise, my body is going to do what it's going to do. Not everyone falls into line with some magical, universal weight gain chart. Assuming all women are the same and handle pregnancy weight gain the same is asinine.
