Sleep help! End of my rope..

ds stopped STTN when he started getting his 2y molars (back in April-May of this year) and would wake 2-3x/night.....this has been going on since, and has become worse.

Now that he speaks better verbally, he's able to tell me that there are monsters in our apt (in the kitchen, bathroom, hallway, his and my bedrooms). He says he sees them both with the lights on and off. At first I thought he was just having spirits visit because they have before, but who knows what is going on now.

He flips the eff out and screams (practically) bloody murder when he "sees" them. He gets in bed/we do his bedtime routine between 8-830, he'll play for about an hour (which is normal) and fall asleep for 1-1.5 hours. Then he's back awake screaming the monsters are going to come and get him, and I can't get him to calm down/go back in his bedroom or to fall back asleep. Every night he ends up in my bed clinging to me for dear life...

It's getting so bad that it's affecting his sleep and daily life.  He's gone from sleeping 10-12 hours/night + 1- 1.5h nap to sleeping 7 hours/night + 1-1.5h nap and I have no idea what to do.

Re: Sleep help! End of my rope..

  • I haven't gone through this so my suggestions might not work, but would you be able to co-sleep with him until he gets out of this stage? Or is there something you could do that could help him feel safe, like teach him a "magic word" that makes the monsters go away?

  • I have no advice just wanted to say hang in there.

Not sure it ever goes away. My 12 year old woke me up at 3am because her room was too hot Sleep
