My DD eats a ton of table foods too, not just purees. I started giving her bites at 5 months old. She ate half a slice of pizza yesterday (cut up) and loved it!
The reason I made the comments about BLW that I did is because I see a lot of posts asking really dumb questions like why the baby wants to play with the food instead of eat it (duh, because he's a baby!) or what to do if all the adults in the house are eating XYZ for dinner but LO doesn't like it (ummmm, you feed the baby something he will like!).
I feel like a lot of people have decided in advance that BLW is the way they want to go and are forcing it on babies who would probably do a lot better if they started out with babyfood and eased their way up to textured foods and self feeding. Not everyone, but some people.
Anyway, that is all I am going to say aboout the topic. Hope you and your LO have a Happy 1st Halloween!

I think the bigger point is that everyone will conduct the way their child eats in their own way. Z is 9 months and I have yet to give him a bite of pizza and we do BLW. This morning for breakfast he had whole wheat pancakes, sweet potato hash browns and bananas. He eats only things that are appropriate for his age range.
In the beginning I asked a bunch of questions as I was curious. I would have never known about BLW if it wasn't for The Bump. We even started with purees and Z hated them. He clamped down and turned his face. One of my first feeding questions about purees was "how come he is not interested and just plays with the spoon?". Point is, people ask questions about new things. The same questions can be from a puree mom or a blw mom.
Z is now the best eater and we get that compliment a lot. We get it from moms with older kids, same age as Z and people at restaurants. He has yet to turn down andy fruit, veggie or meat. He feeds himself and we get to eat our meal. I leanred to modify my meals and eat healthier to accomodate Z. It has been a lesson for my whole family. My next child will start with BLW.

Re: To ANJ410 (BLW)
Z loved spaghetti. He didn't make as much of a mess with it as I wanted, for picture purposes.
OP: How did he like the watermelon?
I am not going to rehash my whole argument, but

I created the blog site, but I don't know how to make it all fancy. I suck.
I started my own blog so I have learned a little about formatting etc. I'll help.:)
