I know the "12 month" rule and I've heard some people say their pedi said 11 was okay.. how about 10 1/2 ? I am losing supply (pumping) and would really love to just go straight from BM to organic cow's milk rather than do 1 month of formula.. has anyone done this?
Thanks in advance..
Re: Anyone try mixing in cow's milk at 10 1/2 months?
We're thinking of starting this week, solely because we want DS to be transitioned to a sippy cup/milk by the time LO #2 gets here. We'll primarily use formula until 12m, but we do want him used to the milk. I have no family history of milk allergies, so I am not nervous about it. With that being said, we will do it on a day that the pedi's office is opened to make sure we can take him in if he seems to have a reaction.
I've been slowly introducing whole milk because I no longer want to BF, supply is dipping and DS will not take formula. Pediatrician said that was ok as long as he didn't get more than 6 ounces in a day. Right now he's barely getting 1 or 2. We have no allergies in the family and DS was doing fine with other dairy.
I posted on the same subject. Here's the thread (hopefully link works).

I am doing exactly this. I asked my pedi office what to do b/c i didnt want to do a month/month half of formula. I started it, adding only about 2-3oz a day. i did this for about a week and stopped b/c it was causing my DD a bad diaper rash and she's never had diaper rash before. So I am back to breastmilk and formula mixing.
