Random PNP question

Hopefully this makes sense -- I'm going to wash my newborn napper that came with the Graco Pack N Play, but there is a short black wire that hooks up to the rest of the system doesn't seem to come off... has anyone else washed this? Is it OK for the cord to go through the gentle cycle or do I need to get it off somehow?
