pumpkin carving suggestions for a toddler

We're doing this tomorrow and I'm looking for suggestions from moms that have done this before with their toddlers.

Of course, she won't be CARVING the pumpkin (I'll save that for nap time) but I want her to help me clean them out and get all squishy.  

Should we cover a table in newspaper, forget a table and just set up on the floor, go outside?

I know it's going to be a mess - but I think she'll love it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    If it's a nice day out, take her outside. Be prepared some kids hate the pumpkin innards and some love it.

    We did it outside on the porch and put a trash bag down and let her put the seeds in a lobster pot. She loved getting messy. Her daddy carved and she was in amazement. HAVE fun and bake some pumpkin seeds.

    The previous suggestions, plus get her a little pumpkin and some stickers and markers.  She can make a pumpkin of her very own, all by herself.
