maternity belt?

anyone use one?  are they necessary?  recommendations for a specific one?

    Is this to support the back/belly during pregnancy? Or the belts you can wear post-partum to help "shrink" the belly? If it's the latter, I went to Ross and bought a $5 elastic workout belt and it worked like a charm. Zipped up my pre-preg pants 9 days later! Smile

    Nothing specific, but the one I got at BRU didn't help at all.  I ended up getting fitted for one at a place that does orthopedic stuff - ins covered it.  I had some really bad back pain towards the end, and that's when the OB's nurse wrote me a Rx for it.

    sorry to be unclear, I am asking about the post-partum one, to hold everything in...

    i think i'll try some sort of ace bandage or elastic workout belt... Smile

    I didn't use anything. For me, my pp bleeding lasted 2 months and I just didn't want anything that would make it worse so I was more concerned about the bleeding than holding things in =P I never ended up getting anything. I was able to zip up my pre-pg pants around 3 months but I dunno if that's considered late (esp since lola808 was able to zip hers up in less than 2 weeks!).

    I used the medela one for about a month but it was SO uncomfortable! I wore it all day but not at night. I was able to zip up my pants about 3 months post partum. That said, my waist was back to my pre-preg size before that but my hips were not! They were wider and my jeans still don't fit the same as they did before I got pregnant.

    didn't use anything - didn't really research it.

    MWs were surprised at how quickly my uterus shrunk back down - but my body/weight was (and still isn't) the same.
