Pregnant after a Loss

Measuring 3 weeks ahead at appt today

Um, I was just there two weeks ago.  My OB said I've been measuring dead on every time so she wants to do another u/s next week.  It kind of freaked me out, but I guess she knows best, right.  Plus if it was something awful, she would want to look like, now, right?

I guess I'll be starting the weekly appointments now instead of in two weeks when the NSTs start.

  • Wow! I don't think it's a bad thing, love. You just have an overachiever in there. If it were a real worry, you're right, they would be acting now.

  • Might just be in a funny position too.  I've measured 2-3 weeks behind for the past several months, except LO's position in the womb reflects that weirdness because she puts her butt off to the side under my ribs where it's unmeasurable.   They just do weird things to freak us out, I promise.

I measured spot on with Lilly - and she was 7lbs9oz 2 weeks after her EDD.  I measured spot on with Carter - and he was a shocking 9lbs13oz on his EDD.  It's such a shot in the dark, kwim?  My doc won't even order more testing until it's been like that for 2-3 appointments in a row.  Yours is just being cautious.

  • My LO has been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead since our level II u/s at 19 weeks. This was the first week they were concerned about it since my fluid levels were also above normal (even though he was a "happy baby" as the nurse said on the NST). I have to go do the 3-hour GTT after all even though I passed the 1-hour last month. I think it's not unusual to measure ahead, especially at this point, because there's such a margin of error with their measurements in utero.

Thanks for sharing this.  She did mention it could just be that baby is in a funny position.

  • I like doing the NSTs!

My uterus has measured nearly a month ahead for my entire pregnancy. How? NO idea. I'm measuring at 39 weeks..... We'll see on Tuesday what LO is measuring.

  • First of all - wow!!!  You're 30 weeks!!!  That's awesome!  I bet the measurement is funny because your LO moved into a funny position.  Enjoy your extra u/s.
  • I'm sure everything is fine.  Glad your doctor is keeping you closely monitored anyway.  Enjoy getting an extra peek at your LO!!

  • I didn't think that was a bad thing at all either. I hate when OB's give you a reason to get worried when there really is no reason at all. The good thing is you get to see your baby more. :)

  • I've been measuring ahead for the past few visits too.  At my 28 week growth ultrasound, they said the baby was 3lbs already, which was about 3 weeks ahead of where I should be.  They didn't seem worried at all.   I'm sure everything is just fine!
