dilating and effacing already?!?

Had my first regular internal today. I'm a fingertip dilated, 70% effaced and her head is at -1 station. No wonder it feels so awkward when I walk! My ob basically said she can come anytime now, although clearly we would prefer that she wait at least 2 more weeks to be full term. I'm also starting to feel a few more contractions, not just BH. Had one during the NST but she handled it find.

Can't believe we're at this point already!

    I will have my first internal exam at my next appt (next week at 35 weeks) but I am interested to see if I am dilated or effaced at all.  My OB with my first was a slacker and my water broke and I went into labor before I ever had an internal so I never knew whether there was any progress leading up to things.

    OK, you ladies are scaring me!! Can some of you really be this close to having your babies?!? I am not due until 12/28, but I feel like going and hiding in a closet for a while. I'm not ready yet!! Crying

    Isn't it crazy?!  Last week I was 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and baby is at 0 station.  I am so not ready just yet, so I am hoping I can keep her in there for at least another 2 weeks!

    How can they tell what station the baby is at? Is that something they can see? I don't know if my doctors are idiots, but I can hardly get a straight answer on how big the baby is and what position they're in, no less where there head is in my pelvis. I just keep being told that since I have such a boring pregnancy that they're not concerned about measuring anything and they'll just "wait and see what happens."

     My understanding is they can feel how low LO is and they base it on where they are in line with levels of the bones in your spine. Here's a pic...

    I'm 1cm, 30% and -1 ... MW started talking about what happens if I go into labor. Um, wha? I need another two weeks ... This.is.surreal.

    I was a half to a full cm dilated and my cervix was soft....The PA I seen was a dumb a$$. This was at 31w6d ( I think)...anyways. That was my 1st internal..I am hoping to have another one next week....

     

    I know baby would be better if he backs a little while longer, but being on modified bedrest is for the birds. I am actually considering asking the doctor about induction /c-section. My body is in constant pain and I am so tired all the time.

    This exactly! I want to meet my LO, but my husband doesn't come home until November 15th, and I'm terrified that LO is going to try to come before then.  I'm due Dec. 11, and I'd really like my LO to make it at least to Dec. 1st.  All these kids need to chill out.   I'm guessing I'll have my first internal when I go to the doc at 35 weeks though nothing had been mentioned yet.  Scared to find out if I'm dialated at all.

    oh wow! I know women walk around for weeks at 3cm but it's just a little scary when it starts happening to you. Good luck!

    I have no clue about anything going on down there....I don't even think I'll get an internal until 37 weeks. Crazy that ya'll have so much progress so soon!

    Yeah, I didn't know I was getting one yesterday. All I knew was I'd have an NST and the group B strep test. Surprise! Surprise

    I knew I was getting one on Thursday but I was expecting the phrase, "Locked up Tight" Not softening cervix and barely dilated.

    Doc said my cervix is soft and she can fit a fingertip in it, but I'm not thinning or effaced.  Still on modified bed rest for now since I'm getting a lot of contractions.

    Thank you! I went into preterm labor though at 32 weeks, so I think that's a big part of why I'm dilated that much already.
