My boys are in the NICU (born at 30 weeks) and are only 3 days old. I was getting off the elevator today to go into the NICU and there dad of a fellow NICU patient there, started small talk while I was signing in. He asked if i had a boy or girl, i said two boys. He said "OH TWO??" I said yes, there are there. He then proceeded to say to me "wow. that sucks. I'm glad it was you and not me though."

SERIOUSLY ASS?? My boys are seriously ill and fighting to be here and you say THAT to me?? And being a father of a baby in the NICU, you'd think he'd have some damn common sense but obviously not.

Vent over. Thanks ladies Stick out tongue

I actually started tearing up so I walked away right away. If I was my usual self, i would've started a throw down too lol but these damn hormones and the trauma of everything has turned me into a big crybaby i think Crying

When I lost a twin my DH's coworker posted a comment on his FB about how we "lucked out" because now we only have one or some crap. I cried my eyes out. People know how to say the wrong thing at the wrong times.

I just want to tell you that my two were born at 29w6d. I know it's hard and your very emotional. (That guy is a total jerk!!) Every day is going to be hard until your babies come home. But mine are 1 and a half after 5 weeks in the NICU they were able to come home. I just said a prayer for your two and I will keep you in my prayers. HUGS

When I get the "better you than me" comments, I either reply with "I agree", or "all of my children are a blessing from God and I thank Him everyday that he's trusted me with them".

wouldn't it be nice if we could remember how to be witty when someone else is rude?

It would have been so amazing if you could have said "yes, clearly better me than you. With an attitude as fabulous as yours, I agree, you'd suck at fathering two kids."

I always think of this stuff AFTER the fact. Not helpful

Maybe he meant he could not handle two babies in the NICU?

I hope it's not that it sucks to have 2 boys... I have 2 boys and consider myself the luckiest woman I know (I would only be luckier if the slept through the night!).

Good luck to your boys, I hope they do well in the NICU.
