So I was reading the earlier post of DHA. I take the target brand prenatal, but nothing else. Should I also be taking a DHA supplement? I guess the doctor will tell me next week.
My doctor has me on the One a Day prenatals and those have a separate DHA supplement along with the prenatal vitamin. I'm sure it can't hurt to start taking one.
i actually do take one, part of the Once A Day Prenatal vitamin pack. But to be honest, I just take it because I felt like I should. I have not had my first apointment yet, and I know that my doctor plans on prescribing me over the counter pre natal vitamins. Maybe you really dont need it till 2nd tri.
I actually asked my doctor about it today. She said that you don't have to start taking it until 12 weeks but that there's nothing wrong with starting earlier.
My doctor also said it's not necessary to take until 12 weeks. ?Plus since I have m/s and have strong aversions to fish, she thought i'd end up throwing it up anyway. ?DHA is fish oil.

CVS has a plant based DHA supplement which doesn't have any fish oil (similar to Expecta but MUCH cheaper). I throw up the fish based ones too!
Re: Should I be taking DHA?
It has to do with brain development. Probably other stuff, too.
I just take the Target combo-pack. It has the PNV and a separate DHA.
