LO measuring 3 weeks behind....

So I had an appt. this morning and my doc informed me that little Roman is measuring approximately 3 weeks behind and scheduled me for a growth ultrasound next week. She didn't seem concerned and just said he could just be on the smaller side or just be positioned funny to where it made my uterus measure smaller.

 My question is: what are the health concerns that contribute to having a smaller baby? I don't smoke and my weight gain is normal so I'm just wondering if there is anything I should be concerned about or research a bit about why he'd be smaller than usual.

    I was measuring 3 weeks behind so they did a growth ultrasound with me. Kylie was perfectly fine. My fluid levels, however, were a different story. They scheduled me for an induction the next day.

    Maybe there won't be anything wrong and it's just the way you baby is positioned or just the way your body is carrying your LO. GL!

    I'm measuring small but at my growth ultrasound ds measured in the 52 percentile, so I think it's just how I'm carrying this time and hoping it has nothing to do with the little guy.

    Thanks girls. Well here's to hoping my growth u/s comes back normal! He's been perfectly healthy in every other way and I had an u/s at 32 weeks where everything was perfect and normal. I'll just be sure to keep drinking my water! :)

    As hard as it is to wait, I would avoid Dr. Google until your appointment and you can get some real information. It may be something totally normal like he's a small--but perfectly healthy--baby and he's in a weird position and the two things stacking are making him seem smaller than the normal 2-week variation that fundal-height measurements can provide. If it turns out to be nothing--and I hope that is the case--you will have spent a week living in fear, stress, and paranoia which is not good for you or baby. If it does turn out to be something, you'll be with your dr and thus in the perfect place to start learning more. I am sorry you are going through this uncertainty!

    we are due the same day :) ... I measured small last week and had the ultrasound today and everything is perfect. They estimated my boy at 6lbs which is in 66th percentile. chances are its just the way you are carrying or that baby has moved down into position :) good luck!

    He's probably just in a wierd position or small but healthy. The growth U/S will give good information and if he's a little small they might schedule another one in a week or two to see if he's growing enough. If not, they might consider inducing early but you're far enough along that that wouldn't be bad, really.

    My LO is measuring small (based on growth U/S) so I'm getting checked again in two weeks to see how she's doing.
