List some great scary movies - especially the lesser known ones. I love the more subtle, psychological scary movies... not such a fan of the gory "teen" scary movies, myself.
"Funny Games" is my recommendation. It was remade a few years ago with Naomi Watts. Creepy and totally unexpected.
Re: Scary movie lovers - come in!
High Tension is really good too. It's a french horror film and there is almost NO dialogue. Really good.
I found Silent Hill pretty firghtening, and the video game scared me even worse. Something just downright creepy about it.
Ringu
Audition
Uzumaki
Japanese horror is my favorite. Plus they make you think.
The Descent. SO and I went to watch it, not expecting much at all. We were just bored and figured we'd kill some time at the movies. This movie scared the hell out of us. It was sooo good.
Other than that, I loved The Ring. It was the first movie to ever truly terrify me.
I just put on the other post Last House on the Left. It's not really scary though, more like thriller. It's just creepy in a "that could happen to me" kind of way.
I loved The Orphan. Again, not a gory, screaming horror, but very creepy.
'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane'
'The Village'
'The Shining'
'Dark Water'
I'm totally intrigued. Can you give me the name of a few you'd recommend?
I'm adding this to my list. I looooove French films.
Jacob's Ladder....not a conventional horror movie but it's psychologically disturbing and scary
All the ones I mentioned as well as:
Ju On
One Missed Call
Kuroneko
Good call with Audition! We saw it last week. Freaky!!
The original Halloween
Vacancy
Open Water
28 days later
the fourth kind
original halloween
Foreign scary movies are the best! I saw a Spanish one that was really good - of course, I can't remember the name.
Is Audition one I can rent? Or is it new?
You can rent it. Do you have Netflix? We are having a scary movie marathon tonight and that is on my instant que
We get a lot of movies on TV, but I'm always tempted to do Netflix for times like this.
Netflix is worth every penny I think. You have instant stream as well as rentals. I say do it!
Pan's Labyrinth? That was a great movie too!
Devil's Backbone? The Orphanage?
Yes. The Orphanage.
