I'm looking for some feedback on how the bumGenius 4.0s work with newborns. I've heard fabulous things about bumGenius in general but have heard that sizing can be a bit iffy the first few weeks. What had your experience been?
Almost all "one-size" diapers will not it a newborn. In fact, they don't fit until at least 10-12 lbs (even though they're often marketed to fit starting at 8lbs). I really liked the small BG AIOs for when LO was small and wasn't yet in her OS dipes.
4.0s are supposedly bigger than the 3.0s too. i know my guy didn't start fitting into his 3.0s until he was about 10-12 weeks old. he would have been swimming in them in his early weeks! we used infant prefolds and covers and those worked beautifully. with all the infant poop in that first month, you really do need something that's going to hug the thighs and contain all the explosions.
My daughter is probably around 9 lbs. and is 7 weeks old. We've had good luck with the BG4.0s so far, no leaks. But we're still mostly using GMD newborn prefolds with Thirsties Duo covers right now.
