Grabbing everything now!

in Babies: 3 - 6 Months
DD will be 5 months old soon and in the past 3 days she has gone from wanting to grab things and reaching half heartedly, to actually doing so. Nothing is safe now! She trys to swat the drink out of my hand if she is on my lap, pull plates of the table, swipe whatever is on my desk and baby toys aren't as exciting as mail/my food/pens/keys or whatever it is I have on my desk or coffee table. I feel like it is a whole new ball game! How do you keep your LO entertained and out of your stuff when you him him/her on your lap for whatever reason?

    Lol idk but we are in the same boat...same age. Dd already dumped a full glass of water on me. Nothing is safe is right!

    I'm with you on this too!  For drinks I just hold them with a tight grip and I let her feel it and just say thing like ooh cold do you feel how cold that is and that keeps her happy.  

    For everything else, I usually take a burp cloth put it on top of the table or wherever I am and she goes straight for that and if that doesn't work just keep everything where I can reach it but she can't.  Somehow she always finds a way to get to get to things though :/

    The worst is when he grabs my face, lips, hair, etc.- it's like has little talons on the tips of his fingers and man is he strong!!! 

    Sometimes if I'm reading a magazine that I don't care about, I'll let him grab pages or I'll tear one out for him.  He loves to crumple them up (best he can).  I just have to watch that no paper ends up in his mouth.  It's really cute to see him looking at the paper, usually with a very serious face like he's really taking in what's on the page- sometimes it looks like he's reading.

    OMG, DD has started this thing where she'll be nursing, stop and look up at me and smile, gently reach toward my cheek, and then grab my cheek with all her strength and twist and dig her nails in! I'm like "awwwwwwwwww, how cute....OUCH!"
