Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Thanks for the pep talk....

So I breastfeed and pump when I'm at work and DD gets bottles of BM at daycare.  It works well for us and I really enjoy breastfeeding. Well, I've been sick for a few weeks now.  It started as a cold and ended up with an ear infection and bronchitis.  It has sucked but  I've been on amoxicillian and I'm finally starting to feel better.  Through this DD hasn't gotten sick at all - which is great! Well this woman I work with asked me how I was feeling and I said "Oh, finally starting to feel better!" and then she said "And you're still nursing through all this?" and I said "yes..." and she said "It's really ok to give your baby formula... give it up already...".

Thanks for the pep talk.  I'll talk your valuable opinion into consideration. Confused

  • I got pretty much that same response from my OB at my 6 week PP appointment when I mentioned that we were having a tough time and I was EPing.  I know he was just trying to look out for my sanity, but seriously, I was looking for some encouragement, not an out.

I think it is fantastic that you didn't quit when you were sick, especially since it lasted so long.  Your BM is probably what kept LO from getting sick too!  I don't know why people feel the need to try to push formula on EBFers.

Thank you! It never even occurred to me to quit - it's easy and works well for us and I really do believe it's why she didn't get sick!
