started supplementing and I think it's making ds sick!

I am unable to pump enough to get DS through when I am at work.  Even pumping on the weekends I can't keep up with him.  So I made the difficult decision to start supplementing.  So on Saturday the 16th he had his first bottle.  He then had some formula Mon, Tues, Wed  with no problems.  He then had a bottle this past Sunday while I was out running errands.  I breastfed him when I got home.  After he ate he started vomitting.  I mean projectile vomit.  He threw up about 10 times in less than 2 hours.  The poor little guy was so, so sick. He ended up in the ER Sunday night due to dehydration.  The dr there believed he had a virus.

He had to have a bottle of formula today while I was at work for the first time since Sunday.  Tonight he threw up again (after not having thrown up since Sunday).  Just once this time but it was a lot and projectile again.  I feel like it could be the formula.  I am so distraught over this. He has a dr appt in the am so he will only be with the sitter for a half day so he will get by on what I have pumped.  But I only have 15 ounces of milk in the house.  He is eating between 12 and 16 ounces of bm a day and I only pump 8 ounces per day.  And this doesn't take in to account any times other than my normal work day when I need to be away from LO.

Has anyone's LO had this kind of reaction to formula?  Could it just be a brand issue?  Perhaps he did have a stomach virus and the formula aggravated it today?  I am at a loss.

Sorry for the long vent.  DH just doesn't quite understand why I am so sad and stressed by this.

    I couldn't tell from your post- are you mixing the formula with BM or giving it straight?

    Also what brand are you using?

    I am not mixing.  And we are using Up and Up Emfamil Gentlease version.

    okay, first off It is possible I would try mixing and slowly lesson the amount of BM to formula.  It can be too hard on your LO's system to be going cold turkey all at once.

    Also, I would try a non -generic fomula first.  I have tried MANY different formulas (including UP and UP) and the one that seems to be the most like BM is Good Start.  It is the one we are on now.  

    UP and UP made my LO INCREDIBLY constipated and sick.   I actually took it back and demanded my money back because it was so bad.  I know many people say it is fine, but for my LO it wasn't
