Technically, it isn't from scratch, unless you grow all the veggies yourself, along with the chickens, but that is just me.
Just kidding... I don't believe in "from scratch", I grew up in a house where we actually did do things "from scratch" as described above, though we did not slaughter the meat ourselves, we did raise it or have someone raise it for us. While, I suppose it gave me a good number of stories about how fun it is to pick, clean, can, freeze, veggies and fruits, not to mention pluck a chicken, I can say that the taste is not any different IMO and often worse and limits variety greatly. Oh and it is a GIANT pain in the butt.
yeah, probably, but I'm really weird about it. Ethan cracked me up tonight because he knows what "cook from scratch" means. He was so glad that I always make my chicken pot pie from scratch, and Nana only uses cans. LOL! I agree. I almost always make my own broth/stock because it's yummier, and I usually don't use canned beans because I'm cheap, but yeah, I think you made it from scratch. You chopped stuff, right?
Re: Random quick question.
Unless you've raised and slaughtered the chicken yourself it is not from scratch!
Seriously, if it's not out of a can or carton I consider it cooked from scratch.

I'm going to make a 5 ingredient rule...if it requires 5 different ingredients, then its from scratch.
Dumping from a box or bag and adding butter and milk....thats only 3...not from scratch.
I agree with dandr about more than 5 ingredients.
me too
I love you.
