Babies: 9 - 12 Months

The pedi is no longer allowed vacations

According to me.

Yesterday I took Colin to the pedi because he had a lump in his groin and I wanted to make sure it wasn't a hernia. It's not - just a lymph node.

My regular pedi is on vacation to I had to see the new pedi in the practice. She rubbed me the wrong way, which it takes a lot for a person to do. Colin had a couple of bruises on his forehead because he's given up totally on crawling and walks everywhere. New walking babies are a bit wobbly and bump their heads...common knowledge. I know she has to look for signs of abuse, but the way she said "Oh, I see he has a couple of bruises on his forehead" and examined them totally pissed me off.

She's pregnant and I hope it's her first so she can be in for a rude awakening.

  • Sounds about right.

  • Sounds about right to me too.
  • Take a deep breath and realize that the Dr. is required to look for that kind of thing, and that - god forbid - your child were being abused and you didn't realize it, the Dr. may be the one who is able to realize what is going on. It may not be you - but daycare, your husband/SO/whatever, etc. It's a GOOD THING that she cares and is thorough. If your primary doesn't do this, I'd actually be more concerned with staying with them...
