balboa baby sling?

anyone use this? is this a safe sling? i see it's endorsed by dr. sears. can you do different carries with this-- hip, front, etc? basically, the carries he describes in the Baby Book? TIA!

Re: balboa baby sling?

  • I have it but I wouldn't recommend it. The shoulder is over-padded to the point where it's very hard the adjust. The pocket is also way too deep. I feel like it was a huge waste of money and I can't even donate it because it seems a little to easy to be used improperly.

  • This sling actually was talked about last night on my FB. Someone posted that it was a bag sling and asking wasn't it recalled.  It isn't considered a bag sling since it's adjustable and can be worn properly and safely.  The bag slings were just that, bags that hung down at the wearers waist.  But I haven't tried it, so not sure how comfy it is, etc.

i was wondering why it wasn't recalled too. thanks for clearing that up!

  • I also have one. My little guy loved it, but grew out of it way to fast.  I used it to do a kangaroo hold (?) mostly.  I just got a moby and love it a lot more than the balboa.  I only used the balboa for about 3 weeks, so $20 a week....waste of money!
