Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Working moms

If you are a working mom and don't send LO to daycare, do you go to any mommy and me classes so LO has interaction with other babies? My grandmother watches DS and he is the first baby on my side of the family. We don't see DH's family as often. I want him to play with other babies, but all the mommy and me classes are during the week. What do you do? I realize that many of you on here may not have the same problem, but if anyone has any ideas, i am open to them.

  • Are there any working mom groups?  I don't work until 2 PM so we go to the ones weekday mornings, but in our area there is one working moms group Saturday mornings and another place is getting one together.  There's also a drop in family music class Saturdays.  Maybe see if the library has anything?

  • I should check the library, good idea. I can't do Saturdays, i forgot to mention that and it adds to the problem.

  • I feel you, Isaiah is always amazed when he sees babies at the grocery store or something... My MIL is actually very open to take him somewhere while I am at work but I gotta admit it makes me jealous! And even if tehre were mommy and me classes available on the weekends I feel like I don't have the time to go with all the cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, etc we have to do on the weekends... We do have kids gym's here that offer saturday classes. I think its called MyGym. Maybe they have one in your area?

  • My mom watches DS, and she also watches my 5 month old neice so he has a little baby interaction there. We were going to a music class on Saturday mornings that was for babys and toddlers, but I went to an all baby class on Thursday and it was really awesome so now my mom brings him to me on thursdays and I take my lunch break to take him to the music class and then just eat at my desk later. Would something like that be possible?

  • Mine goes to DC, but try to find a working mom playgroup.  I've seen one on Meetup and my local bump board has a playgroup that meets on weekends (although I haven't made it to one yet...hopefully soon.)

I wish. I work around 30-45 minutes away from home/my grandparent. She also doesn't drive highways. I am not going to make her drive to my work (which actually has classes for babies on Mondays and Tuesdays). DS will be with me at work for a couple of days in 2 weeks and i can't wait to take him to those classes.

  • DS goes to my sister's house and she has a 3 year old, 7 year old and. 9 year old so he gets interaction but not with babies. We do go to a group once a month with babies so DS can interact with kids his age.
  • We don't yet, but I hope to.  I think I may ask for a Gymboree GC for her for her 1st birthday.  Those classes are too pricey to be going to them when she's not really getting anything out of them yet, so I'd rather wait until she's fully mobile.

  • We go to gymboree on Saturday mornings. Our nanny also takes Daria to gymboree on Tuesdays and to the park daily, where she meets other nannies with babies.
