Bawling like an idiot...

I watched the video of the deaf baby getting his cochlear implant and am crying like an infant...this was so amazing! I know it was posted earlier but I will do it again.

    I know that there's a lot of controversy over the entire idea of cochlear implants, their use and what age to use them.... but as a hearing person, seeing the reaction from my child when they hear my voice for the first time would be amazing.

    I think that is what made me cry. Just knowing it was your voice and no one elses that your son heard would be the most amazing feeling. And then to have him smile like he just heard the most fascinating sound in the world...sigh

    I actually don't know anything about cochlear implants, but I think I'll google them.

    I can't watch it at work but my uncle lost his hearing as an infant and got a cochlear implant in his 40's. It was amazing to see him react to everything. Steam from the iron, leaves blowing, music..... It's incredible!

    THIS 

    I chose to do a research paper on cochlear implants when I was in college and I am amazed at how far they have come along. It brings tears to my eyes. I can see the controversy though.
