My LO is 7 mos and is breastfeeding about 6-8 times per day but is also eating a tablespoon of wholegrain baby cereal mixed with a few teaspoons of applesauce, or sweet potatoes, or peas or carrots 2-3 times a day. Her poop is the consistency of paste, but she seems to be straining and getting frustrated a lot more when she goes.
Have any of you experienced this before? Is this something I should be concerned with, or is it just part of the transition to solid foods?
Thx.

Re: Constipation and Solid foods
We're going through the same thing here. I think it's just part of the transition- her tummy is doing new things!

We dont feed our daughter cereal anymore. Every time she ate cereal she would get constipated so I asked the pedi, She said that it was fine not to feed her cereal as long as she was eating other things.
So maybe its the cereal.
