Potty Training

What I wish I'd known about potties!

DD has been PT'ing for a while now, and overall she prefers to use her little potty rather than the full size potty (with seat adapter.)  Yesterday I was cleaning her potty and could not get it to smell clean!  I couldn't figure it out, so I washed the entire thing, lid, base, bowl and the foam seat cushion.  I finally found the source of the stench - that stupid foam ring cushion!  OMG!  It is supposed to be water proof, but the pee smell is imbedded in it!  I've tried everything I can think of to get that smell out and nothing has worked.  I'm afraid her potty is destined for the trash very soon if I can't get the smell out.  I wish someone had warned me to avoid the foam seats!  So, if you're potty shopping, do yourself a favor and stick to the plain plastic ones!

  • I'll add on to your post that I had a similar problem with the potty I bought. The potty has an insert that can be removed to use as a toilet ring and it took me a few days to realize the insert created a seam where pee could get underneath. Eww.

    Pick your potties wisely!
