I got out of bed Wednesday morning at 9:30 and my water broke the second I stood up. It was just like the movies! I ran to the bathroom to get everything cleaned and situated and woke up DH. I wasn't having any contractions so I grabbed some toast and called my Dr. They wanted me to come into the office so they could check that it was my water rather then have me go over to the Hospital to be sent home.
I got to the Dr office about 10:45 and had some cramping but not what I imagined labor pains to be like. They checked me and it was in fact my water and I was at 4 cm. We got to the car and started for the hospital, about 10 miles away. Thats when all hell broke loose! I started having insane back and leg labor and it felt like it was just one long contraction. The only way I was comfortable was on all fours (yes, really safe on the highway!) I went exercoist and vomited all over the car and made DH pull over twice.
We finally got to the hospital about 11:30-11:45ish and I went to the bathroom off the main lobby to continue to throw up, and cryabout how bad my legs hurt. DH got me a wheelchair but sitting just made the pain worse. We walked up to check in at registration and there was one lady in front of us. After about 5 minutes of me laying on the floor crying about my legs someone made the call to L&D to get a stretcher down there. I felt like the biggest drama queen in the world.
I got into the delivery room and the Dr came to check me while the nurses put in an IV and asked if I wanted the epi. I planned to have a drug free delivery but the pain was insane and I figured I had hours ahead of me so said yes. The Dr. checked me and I was at 6 cm. It was about 12:15 at this point. The antistioligist (sp?) came in to start the epi but my IV had came out. They wanted me on fluids for 15 minutes before doing the epi, so they restarted the the IV. 15 minutes later and a lot of crying on my part the Dr. checked at I was at 10cm and ready to push, no time for meds!
So I started to push and it felt SO MUCH BETTER! The pain in my legs went away and I was just in a zone and didn't feel a thing. I pushed for about 25 minutes and at 1:05 a sunny side up baby Michael was here. He was 7lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long.
