We're having a major scorpion problem, and I have had it. We're killing them in our house almost every day now it seems.
I can't even imagine what I'd do if my baby got stung by one, and I am afraid to go barefoot in my own house anymore.
I've been on the board long enough that people know how weird I am about chemicals. So have you used Aztec or Chem-Free pest control to good results? I don't want to spend all that $ if it's not going to work. I'm thinking maybe it's not that bad to put the hardcore stuff outside, but we'll want to go outside now that it's pretty.
I've been researching home remedies online, but nothing has worked so far. We have an obnoxious millipede problem too. I think I just need my DH to seal off the house better, but don't think he knows how. HELP!
Re: nbr: Anyone effectively eliminate scorpions w/ natural pest control?
I'll let you know the only thing that has helped us is using the hardcore stuff, but it is not all over the house. They come in and dust your attic area. Apparently the type of scorpions we have love the attic and use that as a gateway into your home. (My parents actually had an infestation in their attic when they first moved into their home - gross.)
You have to turn off your AC/heat for an hour or so until the dust settles, but it has worked wonders. One dusting lasts for one year. After being stung in bed a few months ago by a scorpion, I decided it was well worth it, if nothing else for the peace of mind with our little one.
You can still use the ecofriendly stuff in your home and around your baseboards, outside, etc.
I know it probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but it does help us.

we didn't try the green kind, to be honest after i was stung i wanted all out war on those little buggers. if it wasn't stung in bed in the middle of the night, i probably would have tried the green stuff first.

Just being around all the new construction is what is stirring those suckers up. We had issues last year when we still had homes being built on our street and the assisted living behind our house. Now that the construction has stopped we haven't seen one in the house or garage in over a year. Let us knock on wood! We didn't try and eco-friendly options so I'm no help there... but nothing from Hone Depot was strong enough. We had to get some stuff at Tractor Supply called Demon. It comes in a powder and you mix it with water in a spray bottle. DH went around the outside of the house and garage with it. We never sprayed anything inside our house. The stuff worked great. You do have to keep animals that are outside away from it until it 100% dries because the stuff can hurt them.
I'm sorry you are having a problem with them in the house! They scare me so much, and would scare me even more with a little one around. I hope you find a solution soon!

Exactly what I was thinking. Even the borax we sprinkled outside has been getting tracked in a lot. I wish I knew how to make it into a solution w/o diluting it too much. We got some natural stuff from Garden-ville that DH can hopefully put down tonight, but I'm convinced the main thing is sealing the doors and windows better. If that doesn't work, I'll call one of the pro organic pest control companies; they are just so expensive.
There was a lot of debate on the Internet as to whether or not lavender & basil are effective or not. I sure am stressed over these & the nasty millipedes. The heebie jeebies are so bad that my cat brushed me earlier and I started screaming!
