Do you ever feel like nap time ruins the day? As in, conflicts with your social schedule?
Example: this weekend our Zoo is having something called "Boo at the Zoo" for kiddos and it's from 9am-1pm. I would love to take DS but his nap is usually from 11-1 or 2pm. If we leave the house by 8:30 to get there at 9, we'll only be able to stay 1-1.5 hours. That's not much at all!
If I keep him out past his nap time he will be fine while we're there...but once we get home and I try to put him down he WILL NOT nap at all. So then he's crabby the rest of the day. So basically I'm forced to wait to do any fun activities until AFTER his nap. When he wakes up from his nap he's hungry so we eat lunch right away. By the time he's done eating it's already 2:30 or 3pm. Now - on days that I need to clean the house the nap is much appreciated.
Frustrating right?!
Re: I know we all PPH nap time, BUT...
I feel the exact same way as you do but I won't let it ruin plans. If there is something I really want to do or take him to do and it's during naptime we just go anyway. I know that means there will be no nap and he's going to be in a bad mood when we get home but oh well. I'm not going to miss out because of a nap.
But YES I love me some nap time! What will we do when there isn't a nap anymore? YIKES!
So what you're saying is...I should just suck it up and go anyways?
I'm usually not a stickler for nap time but Casey is pretty good about not having major meltdowns without one. For example, we went to the zoo a few weeks ago and I like to go when it first opens at 9:30am, Casey usually naps around 10:30am. She was good but then towards the end around 1pm she was getting cranky and just unpleasant, so we left. Then she zonked on the way home.
LIke pp said I don't ever let it deter me from doing something but sometimes I try to plan around it IF i absolutely have to. When we went to the pumpkin patch we waited until after her nap.
This is why I haven't joined a mom's group yet. DS is still either napping or eating during the times of the activities. (DS naps twice a day)
Once in a while we'll skip a nap for something, and he's okay, just cranky after a while.
I would! Boo at the Zoo sounds like waaay too much fun to pass up! Never know, you may get lucky and he'll take a later nap for you.

Oh no! He will NEVER nap in the stroller while we're out anywhere...too much to see and I know he thinks he'll miss out on something good if he falls asleep.
But he will fall asleep on the ride home for sure...which would be around a 30 minute drive. Once we get home he won't continue to nap - he'll be up and crank butt the rest of the day...guaranteed.
At first, I planned everything around DD's nap. Now, I just do whatever on the weekends. That is our only time to do something as a family and I don't want her or I to miss out. She usually falls asleep on the way home.
You should go and have a wonderful time!
