Cloth Diapering

Recommend Your Favorite Cloth Wipes!

We have just been using disposable wipes, but it's time for a new box and I figure why not just put the money towards some cloth wipes instead.

Makes no sense why I am crazy about having cloth on her butt, but haven't made the switch to cloth wipes! Hmm Anyways, please recommend your favorites.

  • I made some two-layer flannel/terry ones.  They work the best.  The cheapo washcloths you can buy at Target in packs of 6 or 12 are a close second.  No need to spend $$ on fancy "official" diaper wipes, IMO.

  • Don't know about "favorite" since my goal was to find organic wipes so I didn't try out a lot of different ones, but I love the organic bamboo wipes by cushietoosh on etsy.com.  I have 20 and I come close, but never run out.  I usually only need one to clean up DS's bum, unless the poo is especally sticky.  I will probably need to pick up another 10-15 before my third is born and will be buying them from her.

  • We use cheap-o baby washcloths (in a totally different color than our bath the baby washcloths so DH doesn't get confused).  I store them dry in an old disposable wipes container and wet them with a mix of water, baby wash(one squirt) and olive oil (one tbsp) that I keep in a bottle with a lid.  (Shake before using).  I wash them with my CD with no problem.  I bet you will come out cheaper than a box of wipes and be able to use them forever.

I still use disposable for going out sometimes.  I just haven't found a little bottle I like for my diaper bag.  I am on the lookout though.

This.  And I use the California Baby diaper area wash (also at Target).

  • We had a ton of receiving blankets from our showers, so I took 6 of them and made about 48 double sides wipes.

    Ditto.

  • Thirsties Fab wipes - they are a good size, nice and soft, and grab the poo really well. One wipe gets the job done easily.

  • WAHMIES!  I love love love them.  I have Thirsties, BG & Kissaluvs also, but I always pick the Wahmies ones first.  They are the best!  I just bought 10 more.

Edit:  The reason I love them so much is one side is a soft flannel & the other side is a sherpa fleece that "grabs" easier.  So one side for pee & one for poop.

  • I bought a variety from Quilter's Nappies wipes and I love them! They have different combos, we have some flannel/velour wipes, flannel/sherpa, and velour/sherpa. The sherpa is especially great for wiping up poops, no more stinky bottom smell that disposable wipes leave.

I'm so glad I made the switch. They are soft yet durable, come in adorable prints, and if I'm going to spend money on wipes, it feels good to support a WAHM.
