Here, they learned about nursery rhymes in K5, so today they are doing a parade down the halls. Each child has to dress up like a nursery rhyme character.
Tomorrow the kids are allowed to dress like who they are going to be when they grow up. If their costume fits the criteria they are allowed to wear it, but if not they can't dress up.
She is going to be a cheerleader for Halloween, so I'm not sure if she'll wear it or not.
What are your kids doing?
Re: What are schools doing for Halloween?
DS' school doesn't "celebrate" Halloween since it's a private Catholic school. Instead, they are having an alphabet party on Friday. Than on Monday, since it's All Saints Day, they are having a Saint parade and each child gets to dress up as a Saint.
DS is a Ninja for Halloween though. We celebrate it at home and they will go trick or treating Sunday.
Tonight we have a fall festival at our school. Kind of annoyed that it's in the evening and in addition to the festivities tomorrow, but we'll go for an hour anyway.
tomorrow afternoon they are having a Halloween party in their class and then parade around the school. they can wear their Halloween costumes for the party/parade.
And, can I just say, when I was in elementary school, only the KGers were allowed to dress up and do a parade. For the rest of us, it was business as usual. Funny how things have changed like that!
Today, the school had the kindergarten parade. All of the kindergarten kids dress in costume and parade through all of the classrooms, office, library, gym, etc. They love all of the attention... and, the older kids remember doing it, so look forward to it.
Friday is my daughter's class party and costume day. They don't give any guidelines for what they can or can't wear. They are all good kids, so no worries.
Friday evening, there is a big Pumpkin Run. It is hosted by one of the school's in our school district. All of the schools are invited to participate. My daughter runs cross country, so she's excited. They said they have a Great Pumpkin trophy. I'm curious if it is a real pumpkin or a trophy.
