When your LO become attached to a lovey...make sure you get 2 or 3 of them. DD is so attached to a WHITE blanket my mom gave her for Christmas, and its so hard to wash because she never wants to give it up. I've been searching everywhere for the same one, but its been difficult. I am able to wash it by switching it out when she's sleeping with a different one.
Re: some unsolicitated advice
Yeah, that makes it tough.
Yeah, it kind of sucks actually. I have to hand wash it and hang it up to dry but what's worse is that DD tries to rescue it from the drying rack and drag it around when it's still damp. Mmmmm, nice.
Can she make you another?
That is good advice!
Fortunately, I did this from the beginning and kept switching blankets and binkies. She has never attached herself to one particular blanket or binkie and it's nice this way!
I think it's cute when they are attached to one particular thing though! My brother had a blanket that we called his "woobie" and he was so adorable with it!
That's what mine was (is
) I used to love having it washed as a kid though. Not often but about once or twice a month. I have always loved the smell of fresh laundry.

I would love it if you could, but she has some pretty serious health issues at the moment which make me feel that it's not appropriate to ask that of her right now.
I crochet on the side...if you really want a back up send me a PM. I *might* be able to help you out.
Unsolicited Advice #2: If you do have a backup lovey (or 2), please ensure your kid doesn't find the stash of said lovey, otherwise they'll demand to carry all 3 at all times.

A seemingly identical item may not work. When my sister was born, my grandma got both her and I (who was 3 at the time) a purple bunny. It became my sister's favorite, while mine was just another stuffed animal. The fur quickly wore away and my mom had to eventually cut the eyes and nose off my sisters. The few times she tried to replace it with mine, my sister would just cry and cry because it wasn't "Uh-Oh."
Maybe if she had switched them off from the start it would have worked.
