I see posts pretty often about OBs commenting on people's weight gain, whether good or bad. I've been through two different practices now, and have seen multiple doctors in each, and never once has anybody said a word about my weight unless I've asked a specific question. Granted, my gain was pretty slow and steady last pregnancy (although I did lose enough in 1st tri to put me on the "underweight" border)... but this time it's a lot more rapid... yet still, no mention. Ever.
Just curious how common it really is for an OB/midwife to express any sort of interest or concern..... or if it's just one of those things that tends to be off their radar unless seriously problematic.
Re: s/o weight: Does your OB mention yours?

[spoiler]
Last pregnancy I gained 20 lbs by 20 weeks, and he told me to "order small Blizzards instead of large ones" from there on out. Nice.
This time I've gained 20 lbs in 28 weeks, and he hasn't said anything.
Lol that's my kind of advice!
My midwives haven't mentioned weight other than to ask what I have gained at each appointment (scale is in the bathroom), and once to tell me I was doing great.
My OB mentioned it a lot when I was in first trimester I think because I was losing so much. When we got to 18 weeks, I had made it back to even and since then he hasn't said much of anything. I've gained 10 lbs since then and I guess that is fairly normal so there isn't much to talk about with that. Mainly he has been focused on my measurements these days.

This! But I am gaining weight like a mofo and the baby is measuring small.... so I don't know. I think they only bring it up if you are gaining too much weight, for example even though I am gaining too much weight, I still don't weight as much as someone my height would weigh pre preg. So I guess if I gained so much weight that I'm overweight for a pregnant person my height, then they'd be concerned.

That's a little strange. I'm all for not obsessing about weight gain, but it can be an indicator of a multitude of problems from both too little or too much. I'm surprised they don't think its a good metric to track.
This. I just take it upon myself to clump all numbers together when she says this.
