Cloth Diapering

Diaper rash

DD has had a rash for the longest time and I just cannot get rid of it. I was using the Original Tide powder and switched to Rockin Green (soft rock) and it helped for a few days and now I feel like it's just as bad as it was. So far, the only thing that has worked is switching to sposies for a few days and slapping her with desitin at every diaper change... obviously not what I want to do.

I change her frequently... every 2 hours at least. Unfortunately, she still poops A LOT and is somewhat of a phantom pooper, and sometimes I don't notice right away, so I wonder if that's part of the problem.

I've tried Grandma El's (smelled nice but did nothing) and California Baby (did nothing).

 Any suggestions??

Re: Diaper rash

  • Maybe try fleece liners to keep her bottom dry? I just tried this with my DS a few days ago and no more red bottom. I just bought a yard of white fleece at Wal-mart and cut it into rectangles. Hope that helps, it sucks to see a red bottom on your LO :(

Good idea- I'll definitely give it a try. It's just so frustrating- one of the reasons I cloth diaper is because there's supposed to be LESS rash. Sigh.

  • I thought I read here recently that you should never put fleece against your baby's skin? Am I imagining that? (Entirely possible given my sleep deprivation. LOL)
  • I use fleece liners and Grandma El's.  I use Grandma El's at almost every diaper change and I try to not over wipe her and cause more irritation.  We had a few issues when I first started cloth diapering but ever since I started using the cream daily we've had no issues at all.

It was frustrating at first to have rash issues because I thought the same thing, CD = less rashes.  Hang in there and I hope you find a solution that works for you!

I hope not because we use fleece liners, a fleece swaddle me, we have fleece jammies and fleece blankets, lol.
