I was lucky and made it to 38 weeks and had my scheduled c section. The girls were 6 lb 3 oz and 6 lb 9 oz. I never had to go on bedrest and had no complications. They never had to go to the NICU. Reading those other posts made me realize how lucky I really am.

THIS! Minus the scheduled C Section, I was induced and ended up with a C section, but not without trying.
my singleton pg was riddled with issues... my twin pg was cake- went to 38w1d for my scheduled c/s with no issues and no signs of labor. Babies born healthy - came right home... very blessed!
Sorry you're freaking out! I remember having that reaction when I first started reading about the risks.
I was also very lucky. I had a lot of limitations during my pregnancy (i.e. not really being able to walk the last four weeks) but no complications. I read Dr. Luke's book and followed a lot of her guidelines (though the dietary guidelines I was flexible with other than the protein and dairy). I carried my di-di twins to my scheduled induction at 37w6d. Birth weights were 6lbs10oz and 6lbs7oz. No special care or NICU time; one of them needed oxygen at birth but was returned to me after a few minutes so NBD. Life since then has been kinda crazy but they're both healthy overall, sweet little cuddlebugs and a lot of fun.
Oh and I've posted this before, but this is my favorite "twinny" video that gives you a glimpse of what you have to look forward to with twins:
Mine was a high risk pregnancy from the very beginning due to surgeries I had in order to get pregnant. When my OB found out it was twins....well, he became even more worried. It was all very gloom and doom in the beginning as they speculated how my body would handle twins after everything that had happened to it. They expected a uterine rupture or an incompetent cervix. I had a 2 yo foster son and was told to expect limitations, bedrest, etc.
Nothing happened!! Except for GD, I had an uneventful, happy twin pregnancy. I made it to my scheduled c-section at 36w6d. My girls were born kicking and screaming and weighed 5lb8oz and 6lb1oz. No NICU time and we all came home together. I followed Luke's weight gain guidelines and rested as much as I could. Any time I felt tired or cramping, I got off my feet ASAP.
I made the mistake of reading the "how can I have twins" post earlier this morning and it FREAKED me out.
Can we talk about success stories for a while??
THANK YOU! I was freaking out too when I read that post and had to stop reading half way through. sigh. Guess everyone is different but its nice to hear some happy stories!
I made it to 37w5d. Had a successful induction. Both boys were born vag, big and healthy -- 6.1 and 6.12 lbs. My pregnancy was uneventful and "boring" as my OB liked to say. I felt like crap towards the end but the boys and I were both fine. I had no pre-E, no GD and zero m/s.

I had no complications and delivered (by induction) at 38w5d. I exercised throughout my pregnancy. My DDs were approximately 6 lbs each at birth. They went home with me from the hospital.
I made it to my induction date at 38w1d. I worked till 37 weeks (I did reduce my hours at 28 weeks). My babies were born vaginally. Baby B was breech up, but flipped after A was delivered. 7lb 4 oz and 6lb 15 oz. Both had apgars of 9.
Ohhhh don't get scared! It is more complicated/risky than a singleton pregnancy, but lots of us got through it.
I had a couple of times where I had to get monitored for potential pre-term labor (got rear ended, and had "weird" pains at around 34 weeks), but I think most of that was extra precautions b/c I was PG with twins.
Other than that, I left work at around 26/27 weeks (I never remember my weeks and events well!), because my Dr wanted me to rest up and not have any complications.
My girls were delivered via scheduled c-section at 36 weeks 3 days (mono/di twins are usually delivered at 36 weeks).
Other than the physical drain of carrying two babies, my pregancy was pretty smooth.
Listen to your body, be your biggest advocate, and listen to your Dr. Don't freak out--- that's not good for your babies!
I was induced at 37w6d with identical girls (they shared a placenta, which makes for a much riskier pregnancy). Never went on bedrest, and was able to be a full-time SAHM to our 2 older boys until about 2 weeks before I had the girls (My husband worked half days 2 weeks before and worked from home right before). In the multiple pregnancy world, I had a very boring pregnancy : )
Like pp mentioned, being a part of this board keeps me so thankful for our full-term healthy girls.
ETA: Our girls were born at 6 lbs. 4 oz. and 6 lbs. 13 oz. Both did a fantastic job with breastfeeding too!
~Crystal~SAHM to Sam (5), Hugh (3), Mary & Grace (22 months) : )
sure. I made it to my induction at 38 weeks. My only "problem" was severe all day morning sickness, but I had that with my singleton, too. Everything else was uneventful. Ended up pushing 2 healthy 6lb+ babies out in less than 10 minutes!
I have happy twin news. My ID twin boys were born on 10/4 at exactly 32 weeks. Yesterday Dominic came home and we think that Nathaniel will be home tomorrow. I can not wait to have my family all under one roof.
I know I was/am extremely blessed and lucky. I made it 37w3d... 3 days before my scheduled c-section. My babies were born 7lbs and 7lbs7oz with no NICU. My pregnancy was great until the end. I think you should expect some discomfort in a multiple pregnancy.
Congrats and just enjoy! Don't worry about the negative because you'll find it everywhere if you're looking for it. Not to say that some things are just out of our control but don't worry until you have to was my moto.
I was contracting like mad my entire pg. OB put me on Procardia at 28w. Went into PTL at 32w4d, docs were able to stop labor. I was then on BR and continued Procardia until 36w. Strangely enough, I had less contractions when I came off of Procardia than when I was on it. I made it to my scheduled c/s date at 38w (or 37w4d depending on who's calculations you go by). I feel very blessed that I made it so far. Sure there were some bumps along the way, but at least I got to rest for a few weeks before everything was turned upside down. Looking back, it wasn't that bad.
Sorry that you're freaking out! I had my boys at 36w1d and everything went very smoothly!
I had a scheduled c/s at 38 weeks, but my water broke early. I went to the hospital for an emergency c/s and then they were here. Happy & healthy. Luke needed a few days in the NICU which upset me, but everything turned out perfectly.

until week 35 I did just fine...was still working and everything...at 35 weeks 4 days my bp starting going up and my platelets starting going down...I stopped working and 3 days later at 36 weeks went in for my (failed) induction and had a c-section 2 days later...my girls were perfect and healthy at 6.13 & 7.1 pounds and aside from an hour of monitoring after the section they came right into the room with us and home with me 4 days later...
I consider myself a success story. I went through a year of ART and all the crap that goes along with that (miscarriage, financial strain, etc.).
My preg. was not smooth. Raging Hyperemesis from week 8 till the end. Hospitalized for pre-e at 33 weeks. And a c-section at 35 weeks when my water broke. On bedrest from 33 weeks on. Im a success story - see siggie pic below. I left the hospital with two beautiful healthy babies.
I was induced at 37 weeks (they thought baby A was over 8lbs & baby B was stuck at 6lbs for a while). 26 hours of labor & pushing I had an emergency c-section (A got stuck & my pelvic bone ended up being too pointy to ever have natural birth) but in the end I had two very healthy babies. He was 6lbs 12oz & she was 5lbs 8oz. All in all a great experience.

Sure. I made it to 35w6d, no real bedrest. Delivered early b/c my boy was SO big, and my girl had slowed down growing, and b/c I needed a special anesthesiologist (not a problem you'll have).
DD was 5lbs4oz, DS was 7lbs. Only a few hours of NICU for DD, and 24 hours for DS. Both came home with me. Recovery was a breeze.
They've been easy kids ever since, and are best buddies now.
my c section was scheduled for 37 weeks but my water broke at 36 weeks and 4 days! My twins were 6lbs 3 oz and 7lbs 10oz! No one thought i would make it to middle of october (i would have been about 34 weeks) and i shocked them all and held out to November 1st!!! I WAS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!

I carried my boys to 39W6D.
I was in the office until 39W3D.
I swam laps 3 days a week until 38Wish.
My boys were 7 pounds 3 oz and 6 pounds 15 oz.
No GD, PreE, M/S.
