1. As most of you know, Jace has eating issues and really doesn't want anything other than junkfood, purees and yogurt. The teachers at daycare try to feed him each day and are most days successful (I am not). He has this weird thing though. Apparently he waits until all of the other children are finished eating and getting prepped for their naps. When they all leave the table and no one is watching, he eats. Funny- I thought that behaviour was reserved for teenage girls!
2. Also, I discovered why my child is sick so often. When they have milk and cereal bars in the morning, he drinks milk from everyone else's cup but not his own. If he can reach someone's cup, he makes it his own. Germs much, little boy? ![]()
Re: Tell me something your kid does that you think is strange.
Margaux puts everything on her head. Everything.
She gets a new book? On her head. She sees my underpants or bra in the laundry basket? On her head. She manages to pull her socks off? On her head.
I'm sure there's more, but I was just watching her put my wallet on her head...
LOL - get that girl a scratch and sniff sticker book and you. will.rock.her.world!!!!
Sarah does most of the above:
She has eating issues (also doesn't eat anything but purees, bread and yogurt) but sometimes when we don't watch she eats something we put on her tray, like a piece of chicken or fruit. If we are watching, she puts it in her mouth, makes a face and then spits it out.
She also likes to drink from other kids' cups.
She also like to put everything on her head, new books, clothes, toys.
And she likes to crawl around with something in her mouth, like a dog.
Just in the past couple of days, Charles has become obsessed with the sheer curtains in his room. Especially when he's naked. He just giggles and giggles and pulls the curtain over his face, as if we can't see him.
We now call it the Naked Dance of the Veils. I think he wants to be a belly dancer.
Mikey did the running around with stuff in his mouth thing, and he still puts everything on his head. He is also a fan of wearing everything like a necklace - he loves draping my bras around is neck and will do the same with underwear if we leave the laundry where he can get to it.
The newest big thing is sticking his finger up his nose
My Blog

My Quirky Kids:
DS2: loves daddy's toes when he's wearing socks. His favorite thing to do is chomp on his big toe.
DS1: can't go #2 unless he removes every stitch of clothing (this includes socks)
DD: will not eat food that touches another on her plate.
Big - 1 year old
Bigger - 6 years old
Biggest - 13 years old
There are so many. I will just tell you about the one she does the most - she snorts.
She snorts "hello" to everyone. Her and her Daddy snort back and forth like they are having a conversation. All day long - when she is pleased with herself - snort! When she laughs - snort. When she takes a bite of food she likes - snort.
Snort, smile, giggle, repeat.
Edited to clarify - she doesn't snort like a pig. It's more like she just blows air out of her nose with a scrunched up face
Love this! Of course my brain is not functioning so I can't really think of anything right now..
but Keegan does carry toys in his mouth & growls like our dog. When you ask him what a dog says.. he says "grrrrrrrr". Okay, my dog only growled once & not at anyone in our house, but the dog does bark all the time & we can't get him to bark???? & then he laughs hysterically. BTW - while walking, so his hands are empty.
Let's see:
She does the crawling with things in her mouth (though I don't think of this as weird so much as practical.)
She is obsessed with soda cans.
She won't eat anything with texture except those Gerber lil cruncher things. When she does try anything else she makes a face like she has just eaten a lemon even when it is something like a cracker.
Instead of pointing she she takes my hand and puts it on whatever she wants.
Just what I needed to start my day was to read this. This post makes me smile. IMO, kids have a high entertainment value which is good because there are days when I have to wonder what did I sign up for.
This is too funny!!!
1) N is obsessed with drinking his bathwater. If he doesn't dunk his head (face first) in the water and takes a big gulp, never mind the fact that he swallows too much and almost chokes each time, he'll stick his whole hand in the water and quickly suck on his two fingers and make this "Hummmmm" sound, as if he's getting this high. Thank goodness I use very little of the organic soap.... Oy vey! Oh and he likes to bite the head of his duckies while taking a bath (this part scares me just a tad) LOL
2) When he eats, he likes to have a piece of food in each hand. He'll take a bite out of the left one and then the right one and so on ... Thankfully, we're starting to teach him how to use a fork and spoon. fun times!
ADD-ON: His favorite blankie ..... is the hospital one he came home in, gross right? No matter which store bought one i'll give him, he fights me to grab the hospital one and will spend an entire day with it.
These are just too funny - what a great posting idea! As for us,
1) LO likes to sleep with the top of her head and eyes under the crib bumper. No matter where we put her in the crib, she scoots up to the corner of the crib and wedges her head in. No clue why but she has been doing this forever.
2) Her new thing is that she HAS to have something in her hands on her way too and from daycare. A jacket, a book, a blanket - you name it. It doesn't even need to be the same thing every day (thank goodness)
3) She is determined that her dad's nose needs to be moved. She is constantly trying to take it off. Not sure where she wants it moved to.
So cute! I love reading about everyone's quirks.
Aaron has a few...
1) He likes to crawl with stuff in his hands. Balls. Stacking rings (possibly his favorite). Little board books. It's like he glides with them.
2) He feeds us. Sharing? Maybe? But when he eats, he likes to take a bit of whatever he's eating and shove it into our hand or mouth. And he's STRONG so it's hard to not take it.
3) He feels a need to see/touch my muffin top. He'll pull up my shirt to poke at my belly. Gee, thanks, mama knows she's soft around the middle.
Aaron also used to scratch things and he'd snort a lot. I have video of him snorting. But he's seemed to have stopped with those.
And I don't think this is strange, but it's annoying: the shrieking.

OMG I have tears in my eyes reading all these!!
the only thing I can think of with Sabrina is that everything she touches to hold and play with becomes a song and dance with her. everything excluding food. the remote control? hold, shake like a maraca with both hands, dance (standing up or sitting down) and sing ("ah, ah ah, ah ah"). it cracks me up.

L will bust up laughing for no apparent reason. Sitting on the floor, zoning off into space and just start cracking up. I can't wait until he's old enough to share whatever he is thinking of!
His other fascination is flashing me. Or rather, making me flash everyone else. Doesn't matter what I'm wearing, he just loves showing off the 'girls' to anyone who is around. The odd part about it is that he only does it if someone else is there- if its just us two he leaves my shirt alone!
So cute -all of these!
Sometimes when Delaney is sitting, she will turn herself round and round in a circle, like she is sitting on a sit and spin. I don't quite understand why, but when she does it, I'll sing "round and round and round she goes - where she'll stop, nobody knows!"
Simon did that for months, haven't seen him do it in a while but it is kind of cute, I miss it...
I thought of a few more:
Sarah is in love with the finger puppet theatre that she got from her grandpa, especially the wolf dressed up as the grandmother in Little red ridinghood. Although he is the big bad wolf who is eating all others, she always hugs him and smiles when she sees him.
She has two identical little blankets (except the color) but always prefers the one she had first, before I bought her a replacement in case the other one got lost or something. She can find the right one even in the dark and snuggles up to it.
She is facinated by my eye lashes. She tries to grab them and laughs when they touch her fingers. She sometimes pokes my eye after that (ouch).
