Cloth Diapering

If you use Kissaluvs fitted...

Can you help me out and answer the following?  I am thinking of adding them to my prefold stash for babysitters and overnights.

1.  Do they fit thinner/longer babies well?

2.  Would they be good for a heavy wetter that sleeps for 4-5 hours at a time through the night?

3.  Can I just use a thirstie cover or a kissaluv marvels cover over them?

 TIA!

Re: If you use Kissaluvs fitted...

  • I would say yes to all of your questions. I only have one Kissaluv OS fitted and we used it maybe twice. Goodmamas fit my son amazingly well so our other fitteds get little to no use. I'm actually selling my KL fitted of you're interested. It's the cute Two Hoots owls pattern. PM me if you want photos.

  • 1.  Not sure.  My baby is chubby in the legs :)

    2.  No.  We don't use them for overnights at all.  DH likes them b/c he thinks they are easy to use, so that's why we have them.  They get peed through pretty quick.

    3.  Yes, we use Thirsties covers.

  • 1.  Yep. I have a 13 pound 13 oz. 25 1/2 incher and she's still in the second to last snap on the size 0.

    2.  Not sure. They do get saturated pretty quickly. Baby Bee has taken a nap in one before but her naps are usually an hour long.

    3.  I use the marvels cover over ours.

Extra: I love the KL fitteds.  They're my going out and about diaper because they contain even the runniest of poops.  I never worry about leaks when we're running errands.

  • forgot to add: we also have a  stash of the KL doublers which I love. They are made out of terry, just like the dipes.  I use them all the time, even in our pocket diapers.

  • We didn't find them to hold nearly enough for heavy wetting during the day, let alone at night.  Our DS started out very long and skinny (now SUPER long and chubby at 9 months) and I did not feel like the rise was high enough.  He grew out of them lengthwise very fast.  I personally feel like they are better suited to babies that are tiny all over.

  • 1) My DD2 is a bit porky, but I don't have them on the tightest snaps for her, so I think they would work for a skinnier baby?

    2) I don't think so.  DD2 has done a few four-hour stretches and the KL0s will saturate and leak within three hours.  Maybe if you added the doublers.  I just bought some to try out, but we're now using Thirsties Duo diapers and RaRs with her at night.

    3) We use Thirsties covers with them - I'm sure any cover would work.

    1.  Do they fit thinner/longer babies well? My DS was 5.15 lbs and 19 3/4 at birth and 6.15 lbs at 1 month with very skinny legs (he is only in 3rd percentile) and they fit great. I've NEVER had poo leak out of them. At 6 weeks he is still on the smallest setting so these will fit for quite a while.

    2.  Would they be good for a heavy wetter that sleeps for 4-5 hours at a time through the night? They do become saturated within a few hours, you may want to reserve them for daytime dipes. My DS does wear them some nights (will sleep for 3-5 hour stretch) and doesn't seem to be bothered by how saturated they are and has not had any rash issues either.

    3.  Can I just use a thirstie cover or a kissaluv marvels cover over them? I've originally used BSWW and Proraps covers  which were both OK (BSWW had really small leg holes so even though they were single gusset they seemed to fit better/tighter). I recently began using thirsties and they are my favorite. The XS seem much bigger than the newborn BSWW and slightly larger then the Proraps newborn.

     TIA!
