My friend has an extra ticket to a Halloween party at a really nice hotel in Boston this Saturday. She asked me to go as her date (and DD), but I have no money to spend on a costume. I need something I can put together with "normal" items, but I don't want to look cheesy. People go all out for this party, a Hollywood set designer comes to do the decorations, and the theme is Alice in Wonderland. Any ideas?
I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.
Re: Give me some great costume ideas (for me)
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (you just need striped shirts and a little makeup)
or
Alice and the rabbit.
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
I did my son's Mad Hatter costume from items I had at home.
The jacket is one I've had for years and never wore. The tie is actually a wrap from an evening dress I have. I used his white shirt and turned the collar up, I made his vest from clearance material at Joanns and for the buttons I used 2 extras I had in my drawer from dress shirts I have.
For the makeup you can use fair foundation and put baby powder over it as a sealer. blue eyeshadow on the top lid and purple underneath. I used purple eye shadow on his cheekbones. The wig and hat I bought however, many costume stores have their stock marked down at over 50%. You can get florescent orange hair spray and spray your hair in lieu of getting a wig and the hat, you could make from a piece of foam and a cup. Foam for the brim and the cup for the hat part, spray paint both and glue on a 10/6 card to it.
ETA: I bought the wig, eyebrows and hat for his costume.
