Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If your LO never took a bottle...

Will your LO drink enough from a sippy for a full feeding now? If so what sippy did you have the best luck with? We have been working on this but DD will only take a few sips here and there and doesn't really seem interested. We have been trying our best to offer BM in a sippy every day but I haven't seen any improvement.

I work 2 afternoons a week and DH has to bring her in so I can feed her. I'd really like to not have to do that anymore (as much as I love seeing her!) Do I just leave DH with a BM sippy and hope that she gets hungry enough to drink it? She isn't that great with solids either. WDYT? Thanks! :)

Re: If your LO never took a bottle...

  • DD isn't picky what sippy we use(We started with the cheap Take and Toss ones).  We tried bottles and sippy and it was the same.  She doesnt sit still for either.  I walk around behind her and offer it till it is gone.  I fell like am force feeding her but it is the only way I have found to get the min. 16 oz in her.  I find it easier if I offer every few bits when she is eating.  I usually do 4 oz breakfast, 4 oz for lunch, 4 for dinner, 4 before bed.  Some days I can sneak in an extra 2 oz after her nap before dinner, but some days I can't get in the 4 at breakfast.

DD eats lot of solids.  I cut back some so she would drink more.  Are you doing baby food?  DD like bits so much better. I dont think she would even eat baby food if I tried now.  Try more flavor in her food if she isn't eating it.  Nothing says she can't have seasoning.   By 9 months DD was eating what we were eating for the most part.  I tend to make her and extra veggie.

    Hope that helps.  Good luck!

  • We introduced the bottle at 4 weeks and DD was fine up until 3 months when she decided she didn't want it anymore.  We battled it for 2 months(with assorted bottle, temperatures, people, times of day, etc.), and then gave up and went to the sippy.  It took her about about 2 weeks to get up to a full serving.  I went back to work, so she didn't have a choice.  The first 2 weeks were rough - especially the first few days - lots of fussing and crankiness.  However, once she got used to it, it was fine.  She's 9 months and will drink 6 oz out of the sippy now.  We use the Nuby ones.
