How often does you LO drink milk?

Im in the process of weaning from the bottle, and we are down to once a day, right before bed. Im transitioning into a sippy instead of a bottle and she is a rockstar with it. She loves her sippy and drinks water all day long.

My only question: should I be giving her milk in her sippy throughout the day for the extra calcium?

Re: How often does you LO drink milk?

  • We do 8oz in the morning and at night.  So 16oz total unless he doesn't finish it all.  Pedi said that was perfect since he's on the bigger side.

  • She gets whole milk 3 times a day, about 18-20 oz.

  • Since my Dr says 24oz max and I've heard others say that their Dr recommends something around 16oz, that's really only enough for 2 sippy's full. We usually do morning and night.

  • We give her milk with breakfast, lunch, and dinner... 4-6oz, sometimes she drinks it, sometimes she doesn't. We also give her water with meals if she isn't drinking the milk, and throughout the day.

  • She gets an 8oz in the morning and another 8oz at night. Throughout the day she has juice though.

6oz with breakfast, 6oz with lunch, 6 oz with dinner.
  • We're not fully to milk, but when we are, I'll be giving it in sippys/cups like a bottle - i.e. with meals / at certain times, NOT to suck on all day long.

  • We were just at the pedi for my son's 18 mo appt and he recommended 16-24 oz/day at this age. DS will only drink about 2-4 oz at at time so to get this amount of milk in him I have to offer it to him about 6-8 times a day.  I feel like all I do is push milk on him all day.  I wouldn't worry so much about it but he's on the small side and doesn't eat a ton of solids so he really needs the extra calories from milk.
