Babies: 0 - 3 Months

3T with a question

Hi Ladies,  I'm making my final list of items to buy before baby arrives and am a bit confused about one thing...

Do I really need washcloths for changing baby's diaper?  If so, what are they used for?

I keep seeing them listed as a must have item for changing whether you CD or use sposies and feel like it should be obvious, but it's not.  Sorry if I'm the only person in the world who does not get this!

Re: 3T with a question

  • I don't use washcloths when changing diapers. Not sure what they would be used for, unless you were using them in place of wipes?? Sorry, I'm not much help!

  • I've heard of using washcloths instead of wipes, but not both at the same time.  If you're having a boy, maybe you want them there so you don't get peed on?  That was an issue for us in the beginning!  Otherwise I don't see why you would need them.

  • I just use wipes.  I shudder to think of the number of washcloths I'd need if I used them to change diapers!

  • Thanks for the responses!  I thought it seemed a bit odd and will definitely NOT be buying washcloths just for diaper changes!
  • Maybe they mean wipes? I've never heard of that!

  • I cloth diaper and use washcloths as wipes. I don't see any reason to use both for diaper changes.
