I brought one outfit for LO. It was footed and the nurse had to cut the sensor ID from DD's foot before we left the nursery. They said they would have rather done that later or something, but didn't give us too much of a hard time about it.
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
I think we brought 4-5 outfits, but we wanted to have her in her own clothes vs the hospital shirts. I loved the side-snap shirts with nb pants. Or the gowns that the elastic around the bottom. She lived in those the first few weeks. I also made sure to bring the outfits that had the fold-over hands to keep her from scratching her face.
Aw, I remember the excitement of packing her stuff for the hospital. It was so surreal. Gosh, that seems like ages ago. You're so close now!
I had 3 NB and 3 0 to 3 month outfits. There were two daytime outfits and one sleeper in each size. I also brought baby socks.
Bring baby nail files. My LO had some serious shaggy nails and those needed to be smoothed down.
I brought pacifiers. DD did not care for the ones the hospital had but loved one of the two types I had brought.
Baby outfits don't take up much space. I really enjoyed being able to put real clothes on our long-awaited LO, so I wouldn't worry about bringing lots of baby outfits.
Just one, his coming home outfit. I was always told/read that it's just easier to use the hospital clothes for the baby, but now it seems everyone brings their own. I wish we would have brought more clothes for him- pictures would have been much cuter, but he was swaddled a lot also so it may not have made a difference.
Things I'm really glad I had and things I wish I had at the hospital:
Bring nursing pads, just in case. They may have them there for you, but the morning we left is when my milk really came in and I was leaking EVERYWHERE.
I wish I had brought a baby nail file. He wouldn't keep his little mittens on (he had BIG hands!) and he had scratches all over his beautiful newborn face.
I took maybe 5? I couldn't decide which one I wanted him to come home in but thinking back I don't even remember what we brought him home in. I just wanted to get him home. They were long onsies with feet on them. I suggest to to bring at least one newborn outfit and the rest can be 0-3 outfits because the 0-3 stuff can still sometimes be big even if you have a "big" baby.
For DS, just his going home "outfit" (aka a onesie since it was ~345 degrees when he was born).
For DD, 4 adorable sleepers. In retrospect, I should have just brought what we wanted to take her home in. She peed or pooped on 2 of the outfits and we had to take them home dirty - hospital stuff you can just toss in the dirty pile and not deal with. Plus, I happen to think newborn babies look the cutest in their hospital "outfits", plus they're swaddled up tight 99% of the time.

We brought 2 outfits, a newborn and 0-3. I wasn't sure what would fit her best but she ended up coming home in the newborn outfit.
While at the hospital, we used everything they provided for us. We liked the long sleeve hospital shirts because they covered her hands so she couldn't scratch herself. I even grabbed a couple and brought them home with me... along with all the diapers, a few blankets and all the toiletries in our room!
We took onesies, hats, mittens and socks (but she was born in June and it was 100+ degrees). We also brought her going-home outfit which was a top and bloomers.
I think we had 7 onesies, which was just because we had a pack of 6 from Carter's that we threw in there and then we brought one more that we just thought was really cute. We did put her in one every day we were there because we thought she looked much cuter in them.
We took a few outfits. 2 sleepers and one onsie. You don't want to pack too much because you won't use it. I don't think I used anything of mine except for my robe and nursing tank. HTH!!

2 or 3, I think? It was so fun to have stuff! I would definitely bring more than one, just in case one gets dirty or doesn't fit well.
So exciting!!

Aaah! I want to dress up a baby so bad! I have an entire little girl's wardrobe hung and sorted in my closet right now.
Definitely bring more than 1 - for pictures, and for fun
Granted, I have no experience, but how much fun is it going to be?!
You are so stinking close!
