I have a question from a second trimester mom. Our baby is due February 11 and I will be due for a teeth cleaning in February. I was wondering how soon is too soon to bring baby out? My mom will be with me to watch her. Thanks!
We went to the grocery store on the way home from the hospital with him. I needed my pain meds!
We were at home for a few days but after that we needed to get out and do something. I can only stare at the same walls for so long. We'd always keep a blanket over the handle of the carseat when we were out usually because LO was sleeping but then again I still do that when he's sleeping in it.
I know they say wait a while but you need to do what your comfortable with. I couldn't take it at home very long and I had DH to help me so I think I went out sooner than first time moms.

DD is 2 weeks old and I've taken her out to the store and a few restaurants, but I've been avoiding places where people will want to touch her, like a moms' group in my area. As long as people are keeping their distance and she doesn't directly touch anything that would have germs all over it, I don't see the problem. She would be exposed to those same germs whether DH and I took her with us or not...
I think you will be fine, esp w/ your mom there. She can ward off any people who come close to the baby. I avoided places w/ a lot of little kids for the first few months during cold season. Good luck.
i waited four weeks. baby is too vulnerable to germs before than. i read in my baby book form the american pediatric association to wait until a month to expose baby to large indoor crowds. i wanted to go out because i had cabin fever but that would have been selfish of me so i waited.
I went from my house to my mom's house everyday. She helped me, so I could heal from the c/s. We went out to a restaurant when DD was a week old. I didn't care to go anywhere before then
I think this depends more on your recovery than your LO. Most people won't try to touch new baby, and you could deter anyone from touching the baby. However, I had a very quick & smooth recovery and I wouldn't want to go to the dentist that soon after delivery. I would prefer more time to get used to the new routine of having a baby before going anywhere on a schedule, like an appt.
We went to the fair at one week. I wore him in the Ergo, so he was nice and snug up against me, and he slept the whole time. My doc knew we were going and encouraged it since the weather was nice and it wasn't cold/flu season. (We actually ran into her and her family at the fair.)

I waited 2wks but it was more for me than LO, I wasn't ok'd to drive until 2wk pp due to c-section.
