Touring Daycare today!

I'm about to leave and meet DH over our lunch hour to tour our first choice daycare!  It's so early to do this, I thought, but they suggested it.  Even though they also said it's too early to know about availability next summer.  Oh well!  I'll hopefully get to see lots of babies and what the program is like.

I printed off a questionnaire from BabyCenter.  I don't think I'll ask all the questions--there is so much info on the website and many of the questions are toddler/older child related.  But, I do recommend the questionnaire for those also touring daycares!  https://www.babycenter.com/0_daycare-center-director-caregiver-interview-sheet_1452137.bc

  • good luck.  I would ask about turn over of employees and how long the people in the infant classes have been there, how long the center director has been there - and if any of them have kids in that daycare.

  • We are doing this on Friday, even though I also know it's early!  We have to take the afternoon off anyway for a Dr. appt., so I figured why not, since the place said we should come in sometime for a tour.  It would just be awesome, if not to have it totally nailed down because they can't hold a spot, at least to have a front-runner that we're already comfortable with.

  • Good thinking.

DH already toured one of the daycares that we're considering, but I really want to ask the right q's and figure out what to do.

Ugh, yet another thing that makes me feel unprepared.

  • It went well, and I liked it.  We aren't going to look anywhere else.  The daycare center is connected by underground tunnel to our parking garage and the two buildings in which DH and I work.

The lady who was supposed to give the tour was out sick with her own child, so we were unable to officially enroll/get on waiting list.  I just have to call back tomorrow or Friday to get the ball officially rolling!

Just a tip--when I called Monday the lady said she'd mark down Monday's date as when we were on the waiting list for priority purposes.  You all might ask for that perk when you first call and set up tours.
