My DD is 2 months old and I have been on domperidone for 6 days now and I haven't seen that much of an increase in my supply. I am also taking More Milk Plus, Fenugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, eating oatmeal, drinking at least 2 liters of water - you would think I would have seen an increase by now. I got my hopes up so high waiting for the dom to arrive and now I feel that somewhat let down. I was hoping to have this huge increase in supply and get my DD off formula once and for all. The only thing that I can think of that may be effecting it is that I started back at work this week and I am pumping at 9, 12 and 3 instead of nursing. I do nurse her before I leave for work and immediately after I get home at 5:30 or so and nurse her throughout the night and early mornings. I am only able to pump 1 1/2 ounces (I get one ounce on one boob and 1/2 on the other). FWIW - she is currently taking in 3 to 3.5 ounces total at a feeding so when she nurses from me, she will take a bottle to make up the rest if she is still hungry.
Is there anything else that I can try/do? It is so easy to get down about this, even though I know that even what she is getting from me for BM is better than nothing at all.
TIA
Re: Need of support/advice on BF & low supply
How long did it take with you? I am considering uping my dosage of dom to 4 pills 3 x a day.
I would definitely give it some more time.?
My supply was similar to your's when my daughter was two months. She's now almost six months. Slowly, I saw an increase to where I pump 2.5-3 oz in place of a feeding. Sadly, I still have to supplement with formula, but over 75 percent of her diet is breastmilk and I take comfort in that.?
A couple of things that helped me.
1. Breast compression when pumping. ?It really helps me get more milk for her daycare bottles. Dr.. Jack Newman's web site has some info.?
2. Thyroid testing -- My thyroid became underactive after my pregnancy and starting meds helped my supply.?
3. Pumping after every feed. I kept a Symphony rental at home for that purpose. I do the triple feed nurse, supplement, pump.?
4. Try seeing an LC for a weighed feeding to see how much milk your daughter is getting from you. It may be more than you think!
5. If your boobs didn't change during pg or you suspect you have PCOS,I'd consider goat's rue or More Milk Plus Special Blend. ??
6. Nursing as much as humanly possible including comfort nursing. ?
?I'd also suggest taking a look at this website. It's a support place for women with breastfeeding issues.?www.mobimotherhood.org
Good luck and hang in there?
