I had a bit of spotting last night and went to the doctor today and they are sending me for an ultrasound. Will it most likely be external or internal?
I should be able to see the heartbeat right?
Also, if anyone on this board is overweight: do you know if they have difficulty with u/s images this early in overweight people? I would hate to go there and not get a good image because of my weight.
Thanks everyone. A bit nervous but hoping for the best.
Re: u/s at 7 weeks-what to expect?
I went at 7 weeks, 5 days and had an internal.
ETA: We were able to see the heartbeat!
I actually had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks too! Yours will probably be internal - they told me it's too small to see with the external one yet. You should be able to see the heartbeat - I did at least! My baby's heartbeat was 122bmp.
When are you going for your u/s?
google 7 week u/s
It will be internal
They are supposed to call me within the next few days. I hope it is tomorrow. My doc wants me in soon. Thanks for your help
Thanks I figured internal but as you can see, that's not my only question.
Good to know. I guess it can be different for each office.
Same here.
I went in at 6 weeks 6 days, and they did an internal ultrasound. I am overweight as well, and I had the same question. You can see everything just fine, but there is not too much to see because baby is so small at this point. We saw the baby's heart beat, so amazing!
Thank you. Did they even try external or did they go straight to internal?
I went in yesterday (7w4d) and she said internal gave best results this early on. We saw our little peanut, the beginings of limbs, and a nice strong heartbeat flickering away! (158bpm). I am 5'3" and already almost up to 190 (up 5 lbs since start of pregnancy) so I would consider mysefl fairly overweight but the shot of the peanut was plain as could be. Positive I think of transvag is that it doesn't have the tummy to go through? I don't know, maybe. I cried. It was amazing. Hope you have an equally awesome experience!
Oh, and we got to see the spine beginning to form in one of the views!
They went straight to internal... Nothing was mentioned about external at all.
Thank you for all your responses everyone
What an awesome experience! I hope mine will be the same
Thanks.
