Winter coat question?

Does LO wear their winter coat in their car seat? Or do you have to take it off before they get in and put it on after they get out?

Re: Winter coat question?

  • Really? The one we are looking at for E is big and puffy and it seems like it would be pretty uncomfortable to wear in the seat!
  • If it's a big coat no he doesn't wear it. The car seat isn't going to work the way it should with a big coat on!
  • It is said that you should not put a coat on your baby while in a carseat. If you put a coat on the baby most likely you will have to adjust the straps. If you do that then you should check it by putting the baby in the carseat with the straps adjusted to see how much looser the straps are. There have been cases where people have been accidents and the babies are not secured enough and they fly out of the carseat from the straps being not being secured tight enough to the babies body.

If you are worried about your baby being cold then you can put a blanket on them. They also have at BRU a blanket that clips on the carseat to cover some of their body and legs.

  • Thanks everyone! :-)
  • I saw this article...#7 specifically.

In an accident the coat would compress under pressure creating a gap between the baby and the straps.
